Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):forest park
When are Worship Services?
Sunday mornings at 9:30AM
Where is Faith Anglican?
Faith is located east of Ottawa along Highway 417,
just 25 minutes from downtown Ottawa.
We’re at Cambridge Public School
2123 Route 500 West, Embrun
What will I find when I first come?
Worship at Faith Anglican is a fairly typical worship experience. That means that people gather to worship God, to sing together, pray together, hear God’s word proclaimed through readings from the Bible, and experience a time of teaching. We don’t have a church building of our own, so on Sundays we meet in a school gymnasium.
On Sunday, there will be people there to greet you. You’ll receive a “bulletin.” This will give some current news about Faith, and prayer suggestions. The parts of the worship service are projected on a screen so even new people can fully participate to the extent they feel comfortable. You can feel free to sit anywhere you like.
The service starts with singing. Feel free to sing as loud as you want. The service continues with prayers, hearing passages from the Bible and a message that is both engaging and relevant to ordinary living. Most Sundays also include the celebration of Holy Communion -sometimes called the Mass, the Eucharist, the Lord’s Supper. In a dramatic way it makes God’s work through Jesus real in the tangible realities of bread and wine. If you are a baptised Christian you are welcome to receive. You don’t have to already be a church member. If you are not yet baptised or aren’t sure if you are, please don’t shy away from worshipping with us. We are all at different points in our relationship with God.
What about my children?
After an opening song and a kids’ story, the children are invited off to the Sunday school where under the care of responsible adults they have their own worship and learning time. Find out more about our kid’s programs.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. Each service at Faith will see an eclectic range of fashion, from suit and ties to shorts and sandals.
Will I be singled out if I visit?
No. We won’t make you wear a visitor’s badge or stand up during the service. You can remain as anonymous as you like. But, when you are ready, we encourage you to become involved in one of the many ministries or Life Groups that are available at the church.
Is it true that you hand out Egg McMuffins on Father’s Day?
Yes. At Faith, moms receive a small box of chocolates on Mother’s Day and “breakfast in church” for dads on Father’s Day.
Where can I go if my child is restless during the service?
Though there isn’t currently a nursery room there is a space at the rear of gym. There your child can sit on a soft floor mat and play with quiet toys while you can be with them and still participate in the worship.
Will I be asked to give money?
No. If you’re visiting Faith, we ask that you let the offering basket by. You are our guest, and we want to minister to you.
Where do I go if I want to pray with someone?
A prayer team after the worship service to pray with people. Please let the minister or a member of the music ministry know and a person will be happy to pray with you. If you have a prayer need but don’t want to pray one-on-one with someone, you can leave your request in the box by the altar, or click here to submit it electronically. You can find out more about our prayer ministry here.
What does Faith Anglican believe?
We believe that Christianity is first and foremost about a relationship rather than rules. It's about the person of Jesus Christ - who he is, what he's done for us, and how you respond to him. You can checkout more about Jesus here.
At Faith, relationships with each other are also important; a place for you to connect and get to know other people. We invite you to experience Christian community as we worship God and learn from the Bible how God wants us to live together and enjoy life.
As a church, we at Faith are also concerned about what kind of presence we have in our neighbourhoods and in the wider community; about the kind of impact we make and the footprint we leave on our culture. Are people's lives being changed because we're here? Are people closer to God because our church exists? That's what Faith Anglican works at.
Are there other opportunities to connect?
Absolutely! We encourage you to get involved in the activities that happen every week beyond Sunday mornings. It might be in one of our Life Groups or in the many other less formal networks of people here. Check out our updated calendar of events, or learn more about our Life Groups.
Now a question from us to you!
If you have recently visited us, we’d love to hear your impressions and suggestions. Could we do things differently? What worked and what didn’t work for you? How about this website: what is helpful and what is less so? Please send us your thoughts.
We would love to see and hear from you.
We'd Like to Welcome You !!
